Why Do Fashion Designers not Match their Clothing?

Every morning when my alarm goes off for school I unwillingly get up and pick out my clothes for the day. I always choose an outfit that matches, whether it be black sweatpants and a white shirt with some white shoes, or a nice outfit. The colors always match. I would never think to reach for some black pants, brown and pink shirt, purple shoes, light blue jacket and green socks.

Gucci 2018 Fall/Winter Collection

Although a wide variety of people also do this there is one place in particular where I rarely see matching clothing anymore. That's the runway. The idea came as a great surprise to me to think fashion designers wouldn't match their clothing. They mix match varieties of colors, patterns, layers, wacky accessories, etc. As it is attention grabbing on the runway, is there a true reason behind why clothing and fashion designers have slowly began to mix match and layer over time?

After some research I found out the different colors and layers show creativity. The outfits are so attention grabbing most of the audience cant help but admire the creativity and skill behind the designers wacky design. Along with creativity and technical skill, the different layers and pieces all on one model it displays several of the designers designs all in one. Putting ideas and pieces from their collection on display gets the audience member to look further into their collection.

So in conclusion, yes, there is a reason designs don't match their clothing and wear basic street wear you can see just driving down the street. They are showing off their creativity, ideas, and technical skill. It is an art.
