Pros and Cons of Fasting

Everyone has their own personal insecurities. A common insecurity seen in today society is weight and body shape. Those who want to become slimmer or lose weight often cling to fasting. Fasting is when someone obtains from all or some kinds of food and drinks. As this may seem to be an easy way to lose weight there are cons along side the pros.

Pros of Fasting:

Believe it or not fasting actually boosts your immunity. It’s the worlds oldest form of medicine. Fasting also boosts your energy levels, making you more aware and alert throughout the day. As your energy levels increase this increases your concentration. Not to mention, fasting supports and cheaper an more convenient life style as you are not constantly purchasing food. Last but not least, it kills body fat. Which, is normally why people choose to fast.

Cons of Fasting:

As you are fasting you have the unavoidable feeling of hunger. If that isn't enough this can lead you to break the fasting and begin to binge eat. Even if you choose a certain day to stop fasting and you complete your goal fasting gives you the desire to binge eat after fasting which is a main struggle people face while fasting. Low energy along with lightheadedness also comes with fasting. One of the biggest cons of fasting is that it can easily lead to an addiction to wanting/seeing results. This may easily lead to an eating disorder.

All in all, fasting comes with its pros and cons. So, a few final tips if choosing to fast is to do Intermittent Fasting which is an eating pattern where you cycle between eating and fasting. This is much safer and healthier then just obtaining from all food. Another tip is to start with fasting for short periods of time while your a beginner. Then working yourself to longer periods as time.
